SolarBuddy StudentBuddy PowerUP

Building solar power units that bring light, learning, and opportunity to remote communities.

The Experience

This SolarBuddy StudentBuddy PowerUP is a hands-on experience where participants assemble solar power units for children and families living without electricity. Working in small groups of 3-4 delegates, participants build a versatile StudentBuddy solar unit that provides safe lighting and USB charging for everyday needs.

Alongside the build, teams learn about renewable energy and the global challenges of energy poverty. Designed for long-term use, each StudentBuddy PowerUP solar unit features multiple light settings, device charging capability, and sustainable, replaceable components. The experience transforms teamwork into practical, long-lasting support for communities doing it tough.

This experience can be delivered in person (indoors) or virtually via your preferred video conferencing platform.

Experience In Action

Why This Experience Matters?

Millions of families around the world live without access to reliable electricity. After dark, children often rely on unsafe light sources such as kerosene lamps, exposing them to health risks, fire hazards, and high household costs. A StudentBuddy solar unit changes this. It enables children to study safely at night, supports family safety and productivity, reduces energy expenses, and improves health and environmental outcomes. Designed to last more than 15 years, each StudentBuddy PowerUP solar unit delivers sustainable, long-term impact that helps families learn, work, and build more resilient futures.
